Rowan County Employees Receiving Pay Raises

Rowan County’s Magistrates, two other officials, and 90 county employees are in-line for pay raises in the next fiscal year.

Members of the Fiscal Court this week voted to increase the annual salaries for Magistrates from $13,000 to $19,000. County Attorney Cecil Watkins will receive a 25% raise, while Coroner John Northcutt will get a $3,000-$4,000 pay bump.

County workers will get 50-cent an hour increases, with some members of the road crew scheduled for other salary upgrades.

Even though several local construction projects are about to end, Judge-Executive Walter Blevins says the county has the money to cover the pay hikes…

Blevins estimates that all of the pay raises combined will cost Rowan County another $200,000 a year.
