'Star Theater' Announces December Shows

Morehead State University’s Star Theater public programs for December will be “Season of Light” and “Laser Holiday.”

“Season of Light” traces the history and development of many of the world's most endearing holiday customs, all of which involve lighting up the winter season. The show also recounts not only the historical religious and cultural rituals practiced during the time of winter solstice but takes a look at some of our more light-hearted seasonal traditions: from gift-giving and kissing under the mistletoe, to songs about lords a-leaping and ladies dancing, and the custom of decking the halls with greenery and candles. St. Nicholas, Sinterklaas, Kris Kringle, Father Christmas and Santa Claus all drop by as well. Narrated by National Public Radio correspondent and bestselling author Noah Adams and produced by Loch Ness Productions, “Season of Light” is visually rich, musically satisfying, and as soothing as a warm drink on a cold winter's night.

Featuring classic holiday favorites like “Carol of the Bells,” "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," “Frosty the Snowman” and modern hits like "Jingle Bell Rock," “All I Want for Christmas,” and “Christmastime.” Laser Holiday is a unique re-imaginings of timeless songs, in an animated Holiday light display like no other you've ever seen.

The Star Theater’s public programs will be held nightly beginning on Friday, Dec. 6, with “Season of Light” at 7 p.m. and “Laser Holiday” at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, programs will begin with the afternoon showings of “Season of Light” at 2 p.m. and “Laser Holiday” at 3 p.m. The evening showing of “Season of Light” will start at 7 p.m. with “Laser Holiday” to follow at 8 p.m.
