Survey crews along US 60 right of way in Rowan County

Mt. Airy News

Survey crews will be working along US 60 in eastern Rowan County next week collecting data for an upcoming highway safety improvement project.

Beginning Monday, June 25, and continuing through Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, employees of Gresham, Smith and Partners (GS&P) will survey drainage pipes under US 60 as well as under driveways and side roads along the highway between Hays Crossing and the Carter County line.

Landowners should note that GS&P are official contractors working for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Most work will occur inside the state highway right of way. However, work may require surveyors to enter private property to access the drainage pipes near the roadway. The GSP vehicle will be identified on its doors and will have a beacon on top.

This field work is necessary to inventory existing drainage structures for a US 60 safety improvement project.

Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow-down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
