Tara Arnold named women's basketball director of operations

MSU Athletics

Entering her second season on the Morehead State women's basketball staff, former graduate assistant Tara Arnold has been promoted to director of basketball operations.

"We're really excited that Tara will be moving over to our director of operations," said Eagles head coach Greg Todd. "It should be an easy transition that will really help us."

Arnold makes the move after helping guide Morehead State to a 21-10 record in her first season on a Division I coaching staff.

"It means a lot to me that Coach Todd and the rest of his staff had the confidence in me to step into a new role," Arnold said. "I'm excited to take on new responsibilities and learn even more behind the scenes."

In 2016-17, the Eagles eclipsed the 20-win mark for only the seventh time in school history, marking the program's first appearance in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.

"I expect big things from this team, building on what we accomplished last year," said Arnold. "I think we're going to new heights after last season. I'm excited."

Arnold - a native of Frankfort, Ky. - transferred to Morehead State in 2011 after beginning her playing career at Western Kentucky. Arnold left for Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in 2013, averaging 10 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the Blue Raiders of the NAIA.

"(Arnold) is a very organized person," Todd said. "She already handled a lot of our travel last year. She's got a good basketball background that helps in this position, as well. She'll be a good thing for our program."

Arnold graduated from Lindsey Wilson with a bachelor's degree in communication in 2014. She earned a master's in sport management from Western Kentucky in 2016.
