Tax Debate on KET

KET

An economics professor at Western Kentucky University and a member of the Governor’s Tax Reform Commission both agree that Kentucky’s tax system needs changed…But they differ greatly on just what’s wrong with it.

Brian Strow and Jason Bailey debated the issue Monday on KET’s Kentucky Tonight. Strow is also a public policy scholar with the Bluegrass Institute.

He says the state’s tax code is fundamentally flawed because it doesn’t promote job growth…

But Jason Bailey, who is director of the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy, says it’s the sales tax that demands modification…

Bailey says the best way to grow jobs in Kentucky is by offering business a high quality of life and an educated workforce.
