Top Performances Highlight Cross Country at Bradley Classic

Junior Jesse Moreno and senior Gary Monroe turned in top-15 finishes to lead the Morehead State men's cross country team to a ninth-place showing in the red race, while four women placed their names on the MSU6K all-time top-performance list as both teams competed Friday (Oct. 17) at the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course.

Moreno covered the 8K course with a time of 24:59.4 to place 11th, and Monroe crossed the finish line at 25:00.8, which was good for 14th.

The MSU women who cracked the 6K top-10 list were juniors Alex Morris and Erica Parks along with sophomores Mackenzie Butler and Haley Mullins. Morris' time of 22:10.9 is the second best finish all time. Parks is now fifth on the list with a 22:57.5, and Butler is now sixth with a 22:58.7. Mullins' 23:01.9 is eighth fastest.

Junior Jorge Gil-Juarez was next on the men's squad, finishing in 25:51.9. Senior Desmond Bell (26:02.5), freshman Hunter Trenary (26:07.7), junior Evan Childers (26:07.8), freshman Mason Blevins (26:25.2), sophomore Jeremy Ruppert (26:56.0), freshman Iszack Whitsell (27:01.6), sophomore Landon Meserve (27:37.5), freshman Anthony Ortega (28:16.0) and sophomore Clay Dixon (29:16.4) rounded out the Eagles' contingent.

Sophomore Hannah Mullins finished shortly after her sister with a time of 23:19.6. Freshman Abby Soltisz was just spots behind her, finishing the course in 23:46.1. Sophomore Hannah Bailey (23:54.9), sophomore Alyssa Shifflett (23:55.7), junior Jasmyn Andrews (24:28.2) and senior Lindsay Marcum (25:25.5) finished it out for the women who were 18th overall in the red race.

Morehead State's next action is the Ohio Valley Conference Championships. UT Martin is hosting the event on Nov. 1 at Oxford Lake Park in Oxford, Ala.
