U.S. Fleet Forces Band’s Uncharted Waters to Present Free Concert

Morehead State University will present the U.S. Fleet Forces Band’s Uncharted Waters Thursday, Jan. 29, at 3 p.m. in the Duncan Recital Hall of Baird Music Hall.

Uncharted Water performs throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with a diverse, high-energy show that blends chart-topping hits and traditional New Orleans style brass band favorites.  These Sailors are among the Navy’s most talented and versatile musicians entertaining audiences of all ages.

Established in 1945, the United States Fleet Forces Band serves as the Navy's musical ambassador for the Hampton Roads and the Mid-Atlantic region. The U.S. Fleet Forces Band is comprised of 45 Navy Musicians that perform in a variety of ensembles including Wind Ensemble, Ceremonial and Marching Band, the popular music group "Four Star Edition," brass band "Uncharted Waters," as well as several chamber music ensembles and reception combos. The U.S. Fleet Forces Brass Band "Uncharted Waters," led by Musician First Class Gabe Giannelli, is a New Orleans-style brass ensemble with a wide-ranging repertoire of classic and contemporary hits. The Brass Band engages and captivates audiences with its high-energy style.

The U.S. Fleet Forces Band performs more than 600 engagements annually.  Its mission is to provide musical support for ships, shore activities, Navy Recruiting, foreign dignitaries, and community relations events.  The “Finest in the Fleet” entertains audiences totaling in the millions every year.

The event is free and open to the public.
