West Virginians Donate Time, Talents & Money to Help Flood Victims

Recent flooding has ravaged entire towns making it hard to find food, water and cleaning supplies. To aid in flood recovery efforts, donations are pouring into West Virginia from across the state and country.

Greenbrier County is one of the hardest hit counties in the state. Host and producer of Barnwood Builders, a on DIY skipped productions for the show to help with relief efforts. He was collecting supplies outside of Lowe’s in Sumersville on Saturday and Beckley on Sunday.

“One of the most touching things that I’m noticing is that the people who have the least are giving the most, that tears me up every time,” Mark said.

To help send some relief to Summers County flood victims, donations were collected during the first in a series “Music in the Park” events this summer.

Allen Smith was one of the performers. He’s also from Mullens, a town that was destroyed by flooding in 2001.

“It just reminds me not to take things for granted," Allen said. "We will help these people to get back to where they were.”

You can help by volunteering or making a donation to one of these organizations that are involved in the relief program.
