The National Weather Service in Jackson (KY) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through 7:00p.m. on Wed., Feb. 18.
Another round of snow is expected with 1 to 3 inches possible throughout eastern Kentucky. Additional amounts may be expected in higher elevations. Blowing and drifting snow is also anticipated with this system.
Wind gusts Wednesday afternoon will be between 20 and 30 mph. The combination of snow and wind will lead to hazardous travel conditions.
Temperatures will fall into the single digits above zero by Wednesday evening, and then drop to minus zero Wednesday night and in the negative teens Thursday night. The below zero temperatures and wind gusts will lead to hazardous outdoor conditions and any exposure could be potentially harmful, even for a few minutes.
The extreme cold will pose a threat to people, outdoor pets and livestock. Water pipes are also liable to freeze if not properly insulated, especially in mobile homes, trailers, older or poorly insulated houses. Take precautions to stay warm, travel safe and check on neighbors, elderly and those living alone.
