Women's Basketball signs Erin Blaine from Howard University

Morehead State Athletics

Morehead State women's basketball has officially welcomed its newest member, Erin Blaine, to its program for the 2017-18 season.

"Our staff is very excited to have Erin join our family," said Eagles head coach Greg Todd. "She brings a wealth of experience with her."

Blaine comes to Morehead State by way of Howard University, where she spent the last two seasons in her hometown of Washington, D.C. The 6-foot-0 forward led the Lady Bison in rebounding with 6.4 per game.

"Erin led Howard in rebounds and was third on the team in scoring," Todd said. "She will be a threat in multiple areas on the floor for us."

Blaine is set to join the Eagles a season after the departure of four-year standout Shay Steele, who started all 31 games at forward in 2016-17.

"Erin is seasoned in the position we needed to fill," said Todd. "Her greatest attribute and what we are excited about most is her toughness and grit."

As a redshirt-junior, Blaine led Howard to its best start in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in seven years. Blaine's season was highlighted by a career-best 27-point, 13-rebound performance in a 93-76 win at Delaware State on March 2, while the Lady Bison finished the year 16-13 (12-4 MEAC).

A graduate of H.D. Woodson High School in Washington, Blaine began her collegiate career at Saint Francis University before transferring to Howard after her freshman season. As a graduate student in MSU's sport management program, Blaine is immediately eligible to complete her final season of NCAA basketball with the Eagles.
