Women's Hoops Clinches 20-Win Season Behind 81-52 Victory at Tennessee Tech

Morehead State Athletics

Riding double-digit scoring outputs from five different players, Morehead State cruised to an 81-52 win at Tennessee Tech on Monday evening.

Morehead State jumped out to a 23-5 lead after one quarter, holding a 42-12 advantage at halftime. The Eagles led by as many as 37 in the wire-to-wire victory.

Recently minted 1,000-point scorer Eriel McKee anchored the offensive attack with a game-high 14 points on 3-of-4 (.750) shooting from three-point range. The 5-foot-10 junior added four rebounds and three steals on the defensive end, as well.

"Lately, I've been shooting in the gym, practicing, getting better," McKee said. "If I'm open, I decided to just shoot it."

KayK Tate also converted 3-of-4 from downtown, pouring in 11 points in only 13 minutes. Freshman guard Breuna Jackson tallied 11 points of her own, while Miranda Crockett and Brooke Todd recorded 10 points and six rebounds each. Crockett's day was complemented by four steals and a block, and Todd swatted away two shots.

The Eagles shot 30-of-54 (.556) as a team, holding Tennessee Tech to a 21-for-59 (.356) performance. Morehead State fired 8-of-17 (.471) from beyond the perimeter.

With the win, the Eagles move to 20-8 (10-5 Ohio Valley Conference), clinching the No. 2 seed in next week's OVC Tournament. Morehead State will compete in its final contest of the regular season on Saturday, hosting Jacksonville State at 2 p.m. ET.
