Hosted by Mihaela Maynard, Sin Fronteras explores the history and culture of the Latin American community through stories and music. The program features contemporary and traditional music from Latin America, along with stories about everyday life in the Spanish-speaking community.

Sin Fronteras (“No Borders”) is presented in both Spanish and English as an educational and informative learning tool. Throughout the program, Spanish will be spoken first, followed by the translation in English.

​Maynard, a native of Romania, draws on a passion for foreign languages and cultures. Maynard holds a B.A. degree in French and Spanish from Morehead State University, and a M.A. degree in Spanish from the University of Louisville.


Sin Fronteras will spotlight several Spanish cartoons of the 1980's and 1990's. 

Hosted by Mihaela Maynard, the program will offer a spotlight on several cartoons and their importance in the Spanish-speaking community. 

Cartoons such as "Detective Bogey," "Delfy and Friends," "The Fruities," "Basket Fever" and "Sandokan, The Tiger of Malaysia" will be discussed. A variety of contemporary songs will also be featured on the program.

Sin Fronteras airs on Morehead State Public Radio (WMKY at 90.3FM) at 7:00pm on Friday, August 12.

Sin Fronteras host Mihaela Maynard speaks with George Eklund, Associate Professor of English at Morehead State University, about his poetry, influences of the Spanish language on his writings and working with Mexican poet Mario Bojorquez.

George Eklund received his M.F.A. from the University of Iowa and has taught at MSU since 1989. He has been awarded the Al Smith Fellowship in Poetry by the Kentucky Arts Council and Morehead State's Distinguished Creative Productions Award.

Morehead State Public Radio has named Mihaela Maynard as the new host for Sin Fronteras.

Presented in both Spanish and English, Sin Fronteras brings cultures together to educate, inform and entertain.

Broadcast on the third Friday of each month on WMKY (90.3FM), the next program of Sin Fronteras can be heard at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20.

Through music and conversation, Sin Fronteras explores the Hispanic culture, history and its people.

“We should embrace opportunities to learn from other cultures,” said Paul Hitchcock, MSPR general manager.


Morehead State Public Radio has announced the addition of a Spanish music program to its lineup.

Sin Fronteras - Spanish for “no borders” - is a new program to be featured on WMKY (90.3 FM). Locally hosted by Maria Arroyo, the program will make its debut Friday, April 18, at 7 p.m. 

The program will be presented in both Spanish and English as an educational and informative learning tool.
