Community Advisory Board Meeting Minutes August 5, 2015

The meeting started at 6:10pm at the Morehead State Public Radio (MSPR) office.

Mary Caric, MSPR Advisory Board (CAB) Chair welcomed returning members.

Old Business
Minutes of the May 13, 2015 meeting were reviewed. Jeff Ray made the motion to approve the minutes and Colby Thatcher seconded. The motion passed.

Mary Caric presented the Quarterly Program Report . No questions or comments were made.  Jeff made a motion to pass the quarterly review and Mary Caric seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Black Bear reviewed the open house for Radio Eye.  The Radio Eye open house was held on July 29, 2015, 4:00pm-6:00pm, at the Rowan County Public Library. Over five community members signed up as volunteer readers. Every radio was given out to community members during this time. Black Bear wants to know who to contact about getting more information for listeners. Colby stated that she can provide more information at the next meeting. Jeff asked about a Spanish speaking program, however, no one knew if that was going to be taking place. Colby made a motion to approve notes for Radio Eye and Black Bear seconded. The motion passed.

CPB Audit- Jeff briefly discussed the audit that took place three days after Morehead State University completed the spring semester. More information will provided by Paul Hitchcock at the next scheduled board meeting.

New Business

The new donor privacy notice has been posted on the website and has been approved by Morehead State University. The privacy notice was reviewed by the present board members and no questions were asked. Mary Caric made the motion to approve the new policy and Jeff Ray seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Jeff presented information about a program called, Kentucky AField, which has no relation to the television show. The board members showed concerned about carrying the program and the cost. Jeff stated the show was free and is trying to promote wildlife conversation, and provide local weekend activities to community members. Mary Caric accepted the information and Colby seconded.

Sin Fronteras will be getting a new host. Sin Fronteras is a program about Spanish culture and the history of Hispanic Americans in America. May 22 is the first recording with the new host. Current host, Maria Arroyo, will review scripts as well as Paul Hitchcock to ensure it is accurate and free from mistakes.

Closing Comments

The next quarterly CAB meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 6:00pm in MSPR’s studios, pending Paul Hitchcock’s schedule due to elections being held the November 3, 2015.

With no further business to discuss, the CAB was adjourned at 6:53pm.
