Morehead State sophomore third baseman Alex Stephens has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week after his efforts in helping MSU claim a series sweep at Jacksonville State.
After missing a month with an injury, Stephens returned this past weekend. He made his return to third base in the eighth inning of Friday's 4-2 extra-inning victory and then singled in the 10th inning before scoring the eventual winning run. On Saturday, he was 3-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles. He added two more hits in Sunday's series winner.
In 23 contests, Stephens owns a .315 batting average with seven doubles, two triples and two home runs.
Morehead State faces Auburn in its final non-conference game Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET. The Eagles host Murray State for the final OVC weekend Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
