Ashland Considers Broadcasting City Council Meetings

National Capital Commission

The city of Ashland will request proposals from vendors for the broadcast and/or video streaming of its city commission meetings. Commissioner Cheryl Spriggs last month asked the city manager to look into the possibility.

Benjamin Bitter says Ashland could be looking at an investment of approximately 20 thousand dollars to put the meetings on TV. However, he says the cost can’t really be determined until the city opens bids for the production of the broadcasts.

City Manager Bitter says two of Ashland’s neighbors, Ironton and Portsmouth, used to broadcast their meetings, but no longer do. He says he’s not sure why they stopped.
