Morehead State University women’s basketball great, Chynna Bozeman will be recognized by the Ohio Valley Conference during the OVC Basketball Tournament as she was named to this year’s OVC legends.
The OVC began a new tradition in 2015 with the recognizing of men’s and women’s basketball legends from each of its member institutions. The OVC legends will be recognized through signage, P.A. announcements and a game program feature story during the event.
Bozeman was named OVC Player of the Year in each 2010 and 2011 and her No. 2 jersey is one of just two retired women's basketball jerseys in school history. The Reynoldsburg, Ohio, native is the all-time leading scorer in MSU women’s hoop history.
She finished her career ranked second in OVC for made 3-pointers (377) and first in 3-pointers attempted (1096) while her 251 career steals is ninth on the all-time OVC list. During the 2009-10 season, she connected on 121 3-pointers which is the most in OVC single-season history.
With roots dating back to 1948, the OVC and its member institutions have produced many outstanding student-athletes who have earned numerous accolades and led their respective schools to success on the hardwood.
A year ago each OVC member institution identified both a male and female legend to be honored through signage and announcements at the 2015 and 2016 Championships. Last year the league selected six male student-athletes and six female student-athletes and this year the next group of 12 total legends will be honored.
Besides Bozeman, this year's honorees include: Austin Peay: Brooke Armistead; Belmont: Joe Behling; Eastern Illinois: Ta'Kenya Nixon; Eastern Kentucky: Jim Baechtold; Jacksonville State: Walker Russell; Murray State: Ashley Nichole Hayes; Southeast Missouri: William "Bud" Eley; SIUE: Misi Clark; Tennessee State: Connie Swift; Tennessee Tech: Stephen Kite; and UT Martin: Lester Hudson.
