Carter County Takes Measures To Prevent Illegal Dumping

Carter County is stepping up its fight against those who illegally dump trash into creeks, streams, and along back roads.

The Carter Fiscal Court has given Solid Waste Coordinator Mike Brammell permission to place trail cameras in locations around the county where illegal dumping is at its worst.   Those caught in the act will be charged with a crime and will face potential fines of up to $500.

Judge-Executive Mike Malone says Carter County’s problem with illegal dumpers is a severe one that needs to be fixed…

Malone says this isn’t about punishing people, it’s about getting them to stop getting rid of their trash illegally.

Carter County has already placed large dumpsters at various locations to help people properly dispose of their old furniture, TVs, and other large items.
