Eagle Baseball Duo Named Preseason All-OVC

MSU Athletics

Morehead State juniors Ryan Kent and Luke Humphreys have been named to College Sports Madness' Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference baseball teams. Kent, a centerfielder, was named to the first team, while Humphreys, a starting pitcher, was tabbed to the second team.

Kent (Winfield, Ill.) was a key part of MSU's record-setting offensive year in 2015, hitting .356 with 20 doubles. He finished with 90 hits in 59 games and scored 65 runs. Kent also drove in 32 runs and produced a .478 slugging percentage. He had 26 multi-hit games, including a pair of four-hit efforts, and had multiple RBI eight times.

Humphreys (Dickson, Tenn.), who was named Second-Team All-OVC last season, led the team with seven victories while posting a 4.77 ERA in 88.2 innings. Opponents managed to hit just .253 off him. MSU's No. 1 weekend starter struck out 65 opposing batters.

Kent and Humphreys helped lead the Eagles to the 2015 OVC Tournament Championship, a berth in the NCAA Louisville Regional and a school-record 38 victories.

Morehead State opens its 2016 campaign with a three-game series at North Carolina Central Feb. 19-21. The home opener is scheduled for March 5 versus Siena College.
