Entrepreneurs Swearington, Pearson to Offer Workshops

Jen Swearington and Leslie Pearson, two creative entrepreneurs, will lecture and host workshops on the Morehead State University campus.

Swearington, owner of Jennythreads, will visit Oct.  26 and 27.  Jennythreads is a handmade fashion company from Asheville, North Carolina.  Swearington designs her line of art-to-wear clothing out of the Jennythreads retail store, exhibits and sells nationally at retail and wholesale markets, and teaches fashion and surface design at acclaimed art and craft schools.

While at MSU, she will present lectures on her business to First Year Seminar and Arts Entrepreneurship classes.  Additionally, she will host a hands-on shibori workshop for theatre students interested in costume design.

An artist, army veteran and restaurateur from Fayetteville, North Carolina, Pearson, will be at MSU, Nov. 1-3.

Pearson is an award-winning sculptor and textile artist featured in the current exhibition “Of the Earth” at the Claypool-Young Art Gallery. She owns and operates “The Fayetteville Pie Company.” During her time on campus, she will present lectures on her business to First Year Seminar and Arts Entrepreneurship classes. Pearson also will host a hands-on sculpture workshops in the 3D Foundations classes, Department of Art and Design.
