Rick Pitino has filed a lawsuit against the University of Louisville for the remainder of his multi-million dollar contract.

The former head coach of the men’s basketball program says he was not involved in a bribery scandal involving Adidas in which coaches were filtering money to recruits so that they would choose the University. He was fired for cause by the UofL Athletics Association in October. The suit claims the association “did not give Pitino proper notification as his contract required and had no legal justification to fire him for cause.” Pitino’s contract is for $4.3 million a year through 2026.
