Polls Open on Tuesday for Special Election

Cody Evans, The Ledger Independent

Polls will be open 6 a.m. - 6 p.m., Tuesday so voters can determine who will serve as the next 27th District State Senate seat holder in Kentucky

The special election pits Maysville attorney Kelly Caudill, a Democrat, and Millersburg farmer and attorney Steve West, a Republican, in campaigns for the seat.

The special election will be held in Bourbon, Fleming, Harrison, Lewis, Mason, Nicholas, Robertson, and Rowan counties, for the seat vacated by Walter Blevins.

Voters can cast ballots at their usual polling places with a few exceptions of conflicts at school locations and because snowy weather has limited access to other locations.

In Fleming County, voters in precincts known as Mayor's Office, PVA, Fleming County Water and Woodmen of the World, who voted at the high school, will be voting at the Extension Office.

Hillsboro, Grange City and Ringo are voting at Hillsboro Fire Department, and Ewing and Fairview are voting at the Ewing Fire Department building.

In Lewis County, Clerk Glenda Himes said she hopes for a 10 percent turn-out.”

There is one precinct change in Lewis County.

Voters in the Vanceburg precinct, who had voted at Lewis Central School, will be voting at Lewis County Middle School, at 51 Middle School Lane.

Contact local county clerks if there is a problem locating a voting precinct, officials said.
