With the May primary election one month away, citizens are reminded in order to vote, they must be registered by Monday, April 20 at their local county clerk's office.
The May primary election will determine which candidate from each party, who faces opposition, will advance to the Nov. 3, 2015 General Election. Votes will be cast for the following state offices: governor, lieutenant governor; state treasurer; secretary of state; and auditor of public accounts.
Current Attorney General Jack Conway and Sannie Overly are unopposed as the Democrat candidates for governor and lieutenant governor. Voters will choose between Hal Heiner and K.C. Crosbie; current Commisioner of Agriculture James Comer and Chris McDaniel; Will T. Scott and Rodney Coffey; and Matt Bivens and Jenean Hampton for the Republican nod in the November election.
State treasurer candidates are Democrats Neville Blakemore, Jim Glenn, Daniel Grossberg, Richard Henderson, Rick Nelson; and Republican candidates Allison Ball, Kenneth Imes, Jon Larson.
Attorney General candidates are: Democrat Andy Beshear; and Republicans Michael Hogan and Whitney Westerfield.
Secretary of State candidates are: incumbent Democrat Alison Grimes running against Charles Lovett; and Republican Stephen Knipper.
Auditor of Public Accounts candidates are incumbent Democrat Adam Edelen against Republican Mike Harmon.
Running for Commissioner of Agriculture are Democrat Jean-Marie Spann and two Republican candidates, Richard Heath and Ryan Quarles.
There are no regularly scheduled local elections taking place in November for the five counties making up the Buffalo Trace Region.
Voter registration must be completed by the end of business Monday, April 20.
