Women’s Golf Tied For Lead At William & Mary Invitational

Four Morehead State women’s golfers are in the top 10, placing the Eagles tied for first out of nine schools after the opening round of the William & Mary Invitational.Morehead State and the host Tribe recorded 294’s in round one on Sunday (September 15) at the Kingsmill Resort and Plantation Golf Course. The schools lead Elon by eight strokes and Richmond by 13 shots.Sophomore Linnea Scholin paced the Eagles with a 72, while sophomore Katie Rice carded a 73, freshman Anna Magnusson registered a 74 and sophomore Anna Appert Lund turned in a 75.Scholin is tied for second out of 51 golfers, while Rice owns a share of fifth, Magnusson is knotted for seventh and Appert Lund is tied for ninth. MSU collected 19 top-10 performances last school year.Junior Vanessa Bognot rounded out Morehead State’s line-up on Sunday with an 83.  Senior Amalie Schott Munck, playing for the Eagles as an individual at this event, finished with an 84.The course plays at a par of 71 and yardage of 5,958.  William & Mary freshman Kelly McGovern is the individual leader after firing a 70.  Four individuals are currently at 72-or-better.The tournament, which is Morehead State’s second of five this fall, continues with round two on Monday, September 16 and concludes with round three on Tuesday, September 17.
