Masters Indicted

A Morehead man accused of racially charged vandalism has been indicted.   20-year-old Jeffery Masters was indicted for first-degree criminal mischief on January 19^th.The charge stems from a September incident in which Masters allegedly spray painted swastikas on the home of two black Morehead State University Students.  He is also accused of vandalizing a boat and setting fire to a set of tires near a home on McClure circle in downtown Morehead. Masters will appear in rowan circuit court on March 2 for a pretrial conference.  If convicted of the charge, he could face up to 5 years in prison for the offense. If Masters is found guilty on the criminal mischief charge, a judge could decide to consider the vandalism as a hate crime, which could mean additional prison time.
