Rowan Judge-Executive Discusses Government Changes

According to Rowan Judge-Executive Jim Nickell…local residents are in for some major changes in their county government.Nickell says he’s one of several officials who will be retiring from office when their current terms in office end next year…“The jailer…I can’t speak for the sheriff, but he’s indicated that he’s retiring, as well as the county clerk…and there may be a couple of magistrates seeking other offices or not running. You may have one of the largest ballots this county has ever seen with candidates” – Rowan Judge-Executive Jim Nickell

Jailer Don Hall became the latest Rowan official to announce his intentions to leave office, as he informed the Fiscal Court just last week that he will retire next year.

There are already a handful of individuals who’ve already expressed a possible interest in replacing Nickell. The list includes Deputy Judge-Executive Jerry Alderman, Skip Holley, and State Senator Walter Blevins.
