Beshear on DLG raise recommendations

With the Department of Local Government’s recently announced recommendation for cost of living raises, it is not yet clear how that might affect the Commonwealth as a whole.

The DLG is recommending 7% raises for all city and county employees: an amount not sustainable for most municipalities. It’s a matter being felt at the state level as well, with Governor Andy Beshear proposing a 6% raise for all state employees in his budget. That’s in addition to an at least 5% raise for K-12 educators.

WMKY conducted a brief interview with Beshear following his announcement for infrastructure improvements in Rowan County last week.
