Morehead State University proudly honors Dr. Dan Connell with the 2026 Founders Award
The Founders Award is the University’s highest recognition for exceptional service, leadership, and commitment to its mission.

Throughout a distinguished career spanning decades, Connell helped expand educational access, strengthen workforce development initiatives, and create opportunities for students and communities across the region.
After joining Morehead State in 1988, Connell served in numerous leadership roles, including associate provost and vice president for academic affairs, dean of extended campuses and continuing education, and director of the Academic Services Center. His work helped grow regional campuses, expand online learning opportunities, and support students who might not otherwise have had access to higher education.
This award also recognizes the shared legacy of service established by Connell and his late wife, Donna Connell. Through the Donna and Dan Connell Scholarship Endowment, their commitment to students and the region will continue for generations to come.
